Introduction

 Gentle Yoga is suitable for everyone at any age, but the benefits are especially great for seniors.  The older we get, the more Yoga has to offer.  In Yoga classes designed specifically for Seniors, every effort is made to create a class that meets the needs of the older student: for instance postures are modified by using the wall or chairs and poses are held for a shorter period of time.

Lilias Folan’s new book is titled “Yoga gets better with age” and it’s absolutely true!

Yoga for Seniors Teacher Training

If you are a Certified Yoga Teacher, Monica Cordes has developed two Yoga for Seniors Teacher Training courses that will qualify you to teach this growing segment of the population.   At present, this is the only such program offered in Ontario and yet demand for qualified Seniors Yoga Teachers is steadily increasing.

The courses will cover major and minor health issues associated with aging.  Working in small groups, we will design posture modifications to accommodate these health challenges. In the second course, we will further explore the therapeutic aspects of yoga.
